REGULAR MEETING JULY 13, 2021

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Slucter with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Pisano moved Piper seconded to
approve the Agenda. Carried 6-0.
Myers
moved and Piper seconded to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried 6-0.
General
Fund consisting of Voucher #33560 through Voucher #33602 equaling: $91,384.89
plus digital transfers and payments of $1,401.98 making a Grand Total of $92,384.89.
Payroll
Report consisting of Voucher #42005 through #42022 and Direct Deposit #DD2665
through #DD2714 plus digital payments for a Grand Total of 64,358.33.
Reports:
Sheriff’s Report: None
Planning Commission: July meeting was cancelled due to lack of agenda items.
Sewer Board: July meeting cancelled.
Emergency Service Department: Chief Miller reported: 1) During the Township
wide tornado warning on June 26th, we were fortunate to only have 2
calls. Seney Drive had several inches of
water flowing down it, debris was removed from drain and issue was
resolved. Removed wire in the roadway at
Bishop and Waverly and placed cones around it. The drainage construction on Hart Highway
worked as intended, very little standing water. 2) Responded to a fire alarm at
the elementary school just before the parade on July 5th and were
able to extinguish promptly. 3) Rumsey moved and Piper seconded to approve
the hiring of Brian Phillips and Oliver Jermaine Davis Jr as EMT trainees. Carried 6-0.
Assessor/Preston Community Services: 1) July Board of Review is scheduled for July 20th starting at 9:00 am. 2) Been spending time in field with new construction and reappraisal work. 3) Working on two tax tribunal appeals.
Supervisor’s Report: 1) Thank you to everyone who participated in the Parade on July 5th along with a special thanks to Lori Conarton for doing a nice job organizing. The Emergency Services department was well represented and looked great. 2) Looking into approved uses for the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. A possible use is a joint project for improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. 3) Discussion was held on replacing items that were taken last month at the maintenance building break-in. Security improvements were considered. Rumsey moved and Pisano seconded to approve the purchase of garage openers and security cameras for the cemetery’s maintenance building. Carried 6-0. Buying options for replacing truck that was stolen last month was discussed.
Public Officials:
County Commissioner Dairus Reynnet – 1) IT subcommittee met last week to discuss bring broadband to the county. Have been in discussions with Connect Michigan. Study to be performed. 2) County police agreements might be offered to other communities.
Village President Reznick – 1) Thanks to Emergency Services for being in parade. 2) The Village has appointed Scott Ammarman and Ralph Reznick to the Sewer Board for the next two years. 3) The power went out in the Village on July 5th that caused damage to the main lift station downtown. 4) Looks like Metronet might be coming to Creyts Road.

Rumsey offered and Trustee Piper supported the final adoption on the rezoning
of Parcel No. 080-018-400-115-00, commonly known as 5091 Lansing Road, from B-1
(Business) to M-1 (Industrial). Said
Ordinance shall become effective upon the date of final publication as provided
by law.
