WINDSOR CHARTER TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

PUBLIC HEARING – GUINEA ROAD STORAGE SPECIAL USE PERMIT

AND REGULAR MEETING

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2025 – MEETING ROOM

APPROVED

Chairperson Holtz called the meeting of Windsor Charter Township Planning Commission to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

Present: Holtz, Johnson, Pray, Bowen, and Pisano

Absent: Fabijancic & Sabourin

Also Present:  Asst Chief Fabijancic, Supervisor Shaw, and Clerk Barnhart-Smith

 

Johnson moved, and Pray supported the approval of the agenda as written.  Motion carried unanimously

 

Pray moved, and Pisano supported approving the minutes of the previous meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Chairperson Holtz opened the public hearing for Guinea Road Storage, 6690 Guinea Road, Charlotte, MI, Special Use Permit request. Chairperson Holtz called for questions from the public. No representative from Brewer Houses, LLC, was present to answer questions or provide clarification regarding the application.

 

Gary Rutherford, 6125 Brooks River Landing, owns adjacent property to the site. He requested clarification on the project about the location and type of storage operation.

 

With no further comments or questions, Chairperson Holtz closed the public hearing at 7:29 p.m.

 

Reports:

Township Board: The Board approved the 2026 Library Lease and received information on a 425 Agreement that the Supervisor is negotiating with the City of Lansing and Capitol Interstate.

 

Board of Appeals: Denied the request for 10652 Jolly Hwy under Section 110.404, Article IV, which requires a minimum ground floor area of 1,000 square feet for a single-story, single-family dwelling.

 

Board of Review: The Next Board of Review will be in December

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Holtz moved, and Pisano supported, to table the discussion on Guinea Road Storage regarding the Special Use Permit, as no representative was available for clarification. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Bowen moved, and Johnson supported, to table the discussion on the Tarrington Group Special Use Permit request for 6801 Creyts Road pending direction from legal counsel. Motion carried unanimously.

With no further business, Chairperson Holtz adjourned the meeting at 7:38 pm.
