Support the Application for Eaton County Historical Commission Grant for Cemetery Preservation Project

WHEREAS, the Charter Township of Windsor owns and maintains cemeteries of historical significance within the Township; and

WHEREAS, the Township recognizes the importance of preserving and maintaining these cemeteries to honor those interred and to protect the historical integrity of the community; and

WHEREAS, the Eaton County Historical Commission offers a Historical Grant Program to support the restoration and preservation of historically significant sites within Eaton County; and

WHEREAS, the Township desires to undertake a cemetery preservation project at Courter-Pray Cemetery, including activities such as removal of invasive vegetation, cleaning and stabilization of headstones using appropriate preservation methods, and improving access to the site; and

WHEREAS, the Township wishes to apply for grant funding through the Eaton County Historical Commission to assist with the costs associated with this project;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Windsor Charter Township Board hereby supports the submission of a grant application to the Eaton County Historical Commission for the Courter-Pray Cemetery, Historical Preservation Project; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Township Board authorizes the Township Clerk to prepare, submit, and execute all documents necessary for this grant application and to act as the Township’s authorized representative for this project; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Township agrees to complete the project in accordance with the grant requirements if funding is awarded. Offered by Clerk Barnhart-Smith and Seconded by Treasurer Rumsey
